Cherie is survived by her husband; son, Marc John Anson (fiancée, Deborah Cox) of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Heidi Jo Walters (Eddie) of Hartsville, SC; step-daughter, Angela Renee Barrett of Florence, SC; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Desrosiers of Winston Salem, NC and Flo Overbay (Howard) of Richland, VA; brother, Rev. She was born September 20, 1921 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of the late Dr. Edwin Heriot Kerrison and Mary Goodwyn Lenoir Kerrison. Mary was a member of The Colonial Dames and supported other civic activities, such as the arts.Mary is survived by her three sons, Elton Mark Hartzler, Edwin Kerrison Hartzler and David Lloyd Hartzler; and her two grandsons.Mary was predeceased by her husband, Elton Mark Hartzler; daughter, Mary Lenoir Hartzler; and her two siblings, Edwin Kerrison and Louise Lenoir LaRocheIt was her wish that people remember their local animal shelters as no specific memorial has been established. The family received friends Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020 and Palmetto Health Richland Hospice, 1400 Pickens Street, Ste 100, Columbia, SC 29201. John passed away Thursday, September 7, 2016 after a short illness. John was born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Milton Elmer and Rose Gertrude Hettinger Rankin. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. After a long and distinguished career as an engineer and tool maker, he retired from Cogsdill Tool Company. John was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He was devoted to his family, church and community. John and his wife loved traveling together, especially after his retirement.Surviving are his children, Brian M. Rankin (Carol) of St. Matthews, SC, Cathy Rankin Hanna of Elgin, SC, Caren Rankin Canup (Jim) of Florence, SC, Alan G. Rankin (Shirley), David W. Rankin (Diana), Jack M. Rankin (Susan), all of Elgin, SC, Robert F. Rankin of PA; a sister, Dorothea Sears (Robert) of Cherry Hill, NJ; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.John was predeceased by his wife, Nell, of the home; his oldest son, John Robert Rankin from PA; granddaughter, Vanessa Thompson; great-grandson, Xander G.
